In 1901 near the banks of Ketchikan Creek in southeast Alaska,
this fifty-five-foot tall totem pole was completed and raised on thesite of an old fishing camp of tlingit people.
Around this area had grown the new American town of Ketchikan. Originally called Fish Creek.
